Day Three: Wedding Day!

We made it to the big day! Some important notes about Mexican weddings, and what to expect at ours:

  • Attire: Dress code is black tie (tuxedo or long gown). If you don’t have a tux, don’t worry - a dark suit will be fine but this is your chance to dress up!

  • Pace Yourself: Weddings typically continue until 4am (seriously), and we have the venue and DJ lined up with the expectation ours will be no different

  • Come hungry: Food and sweet treats will be served every hour following dinner until well beyond midnight. Need to fuel the dancing into the “madrugada

  • Please Tip: It is custom to tip your waiter in cash for their excellent service - plan for $200 MXN (about $10 USD) per guest

  • Open Bar: Of course there is an open bar! We’ll have some surprise drink specials and other activities to wet your whistle, Mexican style

1: Civil Ceremony

💍 Theme: Vow Renewal

🍾 Details: Although we enjoyed a small civil ceremony for immediate family in October of 2021, it won’t stop us from proclaiming our love in front of our friends and family in 2022! Following the ceremony and exchanging of vows will be cocktails in the beautiful open-air terrace of the stunning Nacional Monte de Piedad headquarters, whose tezontle stone façade dates from 1775.

🗺 Location: Nacional Monte de Piedad (Calle Monte de Piedad 7, Centro Histórico, 06000 CDMX)

🤵👰 Dress Code: Black Tie

🎶 Details: Immediately following the civil ceremony and drinks reception, prepare yourself for the biggest party of the year. We will be celebrating in an estate owned by Hernán Cortés from 1485–1547, in an “old house” (palace) lived in by Aztec emperors Axayácatl and Moctezuma II. The current building was built by Don Pedro Romero de Terreros, the Count of Regla, between 1774 and 1777. You will be a part of history, as this is literally the first wedding ever celebrated in this historic building!

 Day Four: Brunch and Boats

If you made it this far, congratulations! You deserve a massive hangover brunch and a lovely trip through the canals of the “Venice of Mexico City” - Xochimilco.

An important consideration: if you choose to take the boat trip, you cannot “get off early” to catch a flight. You should be prepared to attend the full ~5 hour activity.

🕗Time: 11:00am - 2:00pm

🗺 Location: Cotorritos Cervecería (Calle de Durango #187, Roma Norte, 06700 CDMX)

'🕶 Dress Code: Just show up

🥞 Details: Your feet may be sore, your ears may be ringing, but that should not stop you from indulging in a tasty Mexican breakfast. Perk up with a mimosa, michelada, quesadilla, and consommé. Fuel up for your trip home, or perhaps the beginning of a week-long Spring Break in beautiful Mexico.

Sitting aboard a private “trajinera” (colorful Mexican gondola), a captain will expertly navigate your boat with 15 guests through the ancient canals built by the Azetecs. We’ll have plenty of music, drinks and food for all those who can make it!
